WELCOME
The Costa Vicentina is classified as a national park and covers the south west tip of Portugal. This stunning coastline is known to be one of the best areas for surfing in Europe and encompasses numerous beaches with excellent conditions for learning the sport, making it one of the best and most consistent areas in the world to surf.
Commercial ventures began in 1992, coinciding with the first surf instructors course administered by the Portuguese Surf Federation (Federação Portuguesa de Surf).
By the end of the 90s and into the year 2000 there was a noticable boom in surf trade within the Costa Vicentina coastline. Due to the geography of the area, unlike that of the vast open coastlines of france, and the wide variety of swell we had, there was continous bottle-
We became the ALGARVE SURF SCHOOL ASSOCIATION -
Since the first meeting in 2000 having 6 we have now grown to 15 well respected and renowned surf schools. A mix of local and international ownership working side by side to uphold the existance of fair, respectful and yet competitive trade alongside the restrictions the area provides to hold a limited amount of surf school businesses.
We continue to educate the young the worth of their clean and unique coastline, whilst also campaigning to protest against, for instance, international shipping lanes.
There are always beach cleaning initiatives followed by social events to both promote charity within our sport and also combining awareness for our businesses in a fun environment.
Since 2008 the ASECV rulebook has been taken on officially by the MARITIME POLICE who govern all the Portuguese beaches. We are also a proud member of ATA -
